Background:
Lester Cladding Ltd is a family-owned business specialising in roofing, cladding, rainscreen and envelope solutions, based in Buckley, Flintshire. With 40 years’ experience of the construction industry, we partner with clients from inception to completion of projects worth up to £5 million.
Our offices are based in Buckley, North Wales but there is no requirement to attend our offices daily, we only expect managers to attend our offices as/when required. The role will be heavily site based, and lots of your work will involve work outdoors reviewing the job or office work within a site cabin.
Our projects are based around the North West, North Wales, and down to the Midlands. Eg: Preston, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Anglesey, Stafford. There is never usually a requirement to lodge, all sites are managed with local labour and management. Where you live is considered when placing you on new projects in terms of time/distance of travel to/from site.
Job Description:
We are looking to appoint a Junior or Assistant Site Manager, who has the required enthusiasm, organisation skills and desire to learn.
The candidates will report directly to our Site or Contracts Managers who they will take instruction from.
This opportunity is perfect for someone looking to progress their career within the construction industry. We are offering the right candidate the opportunity to eventually progress towards & through their NVQ Level 6 qualification.
Experience in installing and managing a range of roofing systems such as composite, built up fully supported, flat roofing systems and façade systems is desirable but not required, or within general construction site management.
Job Description
- Attend daily site briefings and meetings and provide updates on site progress. Ensure all operatives are briefed daily via Inndex (the digital software we use for reporting).
- Oversee and report to the Site or Contracts Manager regarding sub-contractors and labour forces on site and assist in the delivery of workmanship to the highest standard.
- Ensuring on site labour are making adequate progress – assist with organising and supervising subcontractors and employed cladders on site.
- Maintain communication with the supply team members to help with the delivery, including following up communicated verbal messages via Inndex.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and returned in a timely manner and raising concerns with the Site or Contracts Manager. This includes checking on Inndex that:
- Tool box talks are carried out weekly
- MEWP / Plant checks are carried out daily
- All operatives are briefed onto RAMS
- RAMS amendments are being created and briefed when required
- PPE is being worn correctly.
- Producing daily and weekly progress, safety and quality reports, via Inndex.
- Ensuring you check all deliveries against the delivery note and then uploaded copies of the signed delivery note to inndex
- Ensure that the supply chain is working in accordance with their risk assessments and method statements, and also to the sequence of works and installation process.
- Understand and work towards the project programme and assist in reporting the programme position.
- Ensuring any issues arising on site such as segregation, walkways, ground conditions are recorded via Inndex, reported to the correct persons and rectified where possible.
- You must be able to learn a basic understanding of job details, including specification details, installation methods & sequencing methods.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- A valid driver’s license
- CSCS Card
- Basic understanding of construction processes, materials, and health and safety regulations.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proactive with a problem-solving mindset.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
Other qualifications, not required, but would be beneficial:
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- SMSTS / SSSTS / IPAF / NPORS / CPCS / First Aid / FASET / Manual Handling / Work at Height
What we offer:
- 2pm finishes on Fridays
- 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing to 24 + BH after 2 years, and 25 + BH after 5 years, and further thereafter.
- You will be provided with your own small company van for sole use (fully funded by the company).
